Irving Ramsey Wiles

The Wikipedia entry for Irving Ramsey Wiles refers to him as “an important American artist, born in Utica, New York.” He was a popular portraitist until interest in his style of art declined, but he was very talented and his art remains on display in museums and galleries. I love finding out a bit about the artists behind the old Victorian ads and illustrations. This illustration from a late 1800s issue of The Cosmopolitan is called “The Choir.”

I believe this image is in the public domain.
